About ArtShowBookmark and Share

ArtShow is an interactive presentation tool. When images or movies are the subject of the lecture, a standard slide presentation is not enough to allow the lecturer or viewer to fully explore the topic being covered. ArtShow allows you to create, share, and show – on an iPad or connected external screen – an ordered set of slides containing text, images, movies, and web pages. During presentation the lecturer can spontaneously zoom in on an image to focus on particular areas, show movies, or browse the web. With ArtShow, these details do not have to be meticulously worked out ahead of time. Images may be presented full screen and images and slides may be interactively annotated using the ArtShowGlassBoard. ArtShow also has a timed presentation option designed to allow for slide-based timed quizzes: showing each slide for a set time, with an optional visual and audible warning before moving to the next slide. ArtShow SlideShows can be saved as documents to be shared using iTunes file sharing, or services such as Dropbox or Google Drive.

Glossary

ArtShow presentations are called SlideShows.

SlideShows are stored in documents. Behind the scenes, these documents are one of two formats. One is the normal format for editing and presentation, and the other is packaged as a single file for import and export.

These ArtShowSlideShow document files are too large to mail, but they may be imported and exported through iTunes or services such as Drop Box, or loaded from the web though Safari. Transferring the files between apps on an iPad may take time, so be patient.

SlideShows in packaged document format are shown with a file icon ("📄") next to the name.

SlideShows consist of a series of Slides.

Each Slide contains rectangular Slide Objects: Media objects (images or movies), Text, Web Pages, or Shapes such as circles, rectangles, or arrows which may be superimposed on the other Slide Objects.

SlideShows are presented in Lecture or Timed modes.

Lecture mode allows manual control of moving through the SlideShow. During presentation you may zoom in to images (or zoom out) to highlight details, show movies, and scroll and navigate in web pages. You may also show an image full-screen. In this mode, you may use the GlassBoard to paint over the image to highlight areas being discussed.

In Timed presentation mode, each slide is shown for a time. The time may be set for each slide, or a SlideShow value may be used. Optionally, an alert may be shown some time before the slide is to disappear. This is most useful for Art History quizzes, but may have other uses.
