ArtShow Workflow
1. Gather images, add to SlideShow
Options:
Before or after creating ArtShow SlideShow
-
Put images into the Photos app, optionally arrange in an album or albums.
After creating ArtShow SlideShow
-
Add all images and movies in a 'Photos' app album
-
Select one photo or movie from the 'Photos' library
-
Cut image from elsewhere and paste
-
Copy from another SlideShow
-
Open movie file from Dropbox, Google Drive, or other application (opening
images in this manner is not
possible at this time; images from other apps must be added
using Photos or cutting and pasting)
-
Use iTunes to add ArtShow documents, images, movies
The media within a SlideShow may be put in order for
convenience in creating slides. Each piece of media may
have a caption, and metadata such as the artist, title,
and when it was made
2. Configure the SlideShow
Each SlideShow has a title and a thumbnail image, which are used on the main page listing SlideShows.
There are also settings for use in presenting a SlideShow in Timed presentation mode. Each time may be shown
for a set time. Optionally, a warning may be shown a set time before the next slide is to appear. These times
may be changed for individual slides to override these SlideShow values.
Sounds can be played when the warning appears and when a new slide appears.
About Slides
Slides contain "Slide Objects", which display text, a web page, or media
(video or image) in a rectangle, or display a shape which may be
used on top of other objects.
Slide objects may overlap; they have a display order which
determines which object hides which.
Slide objects may have colored border frames.
Slide objects may have a colored background, or the background can be transparent.
Text slide objects default to a transparent (clear) background and no border, so that they can easily be shown over images.
3. Create Slides in SlideShow
-
Start with a blank slide or one of the templates
-
Add or remove objects
-
Move or change the size of objects
-
Edit the content of the objects: the url for the web, the text
(including formatting) of a text object, or the media
(image or movie) for a media object. Slide Media is selected from
the collection of media which had been added to the
SlideShow above
-
Set default slide object properties, used when new objects are created
4. Present SlideShow in Lecture mode or Present SlideShow in Timed mode
SlideShows may be presented in three forms:
-
Full screen on the iPad in landscape orientation. Use
gestures described below to control the slideshow.
-
Partial screen on the iPad in portrait orientation. The
slide appears at the top of the screen and a control and
information area appears below. Gestures on the slide
may also be used.
-
External display. The slide is shown on the external
display, while the iPad displays in portrait
orientation. The iPad display is mirrored on the
external display with the exception that movies will only
play on the external display and a movie playing control
is used on the iPad in its place.
(optional) Organize SlideShows
Use the button to view the SlideShows in a list view. Edit this
list to change the order of the SlideShows in the main display. You may also change the SlideShow settings
from this list.
(optional) Share SlideShows
SlideShows may be shared by converting them to ArtShow document files.
They are too large to be emailed, but can be transferred using web sites,
iTunes file sharing, or services such as Dropbox or Google Drive. The first time an
ArtShow document is opened takes more time, while it is converted to a
SlideShow which can be edited and played.
